H&M Conscious – Sustainable Style Finds
Shopping more sustainably doesn’t have to cost a fortune. This striking pink kaftan from H&M Conscious collection is made from recycled polyester. Ideally we’d step off the fast fashion wheel altogether, but it’s a positive step to see major high street brands like H&M using recycled and sustainable fabrics in their collections.
My experience of trying to switch completely to sustainable and ethical shopping was well intentioned but decided un-fun. My usual one-day personal shopping sessions, turned into 4-day marathon deep-dives trying to find what my clients needed without sacrificing style.
In hindsight, as with many things, I’d recommend the switch to a more sustainable lifestyle be taken steadily at your own pace. Set the intention to check the manufacturers label, favour natural fibres and support sustainable brands, but think of it as a journey. I guess it’s a bit like crash dieting, if you try to switch completely overnight, you’re setting yourself up for failure and more likely to quit as a result. If you love the high street, start there. Many brands like H&M, Mango, Arket, & Other Stories have organic cotton, pure wool and other more sustainable options if you look for them.
These bigger brands can also afford to offer free delivery and returns, where many small independent brands can’t. Make the most of this and order a selection of pieces in tencel, lyocell, recycled polyester, etc. Use the online experience to search these items – something that you can’t do instore – safe in the knowledge that you can return anything that isnt right for you.
Start where you’re at and enjoy the journey.
Here’s my pick of H&M’s Conscious Collection to get you started.
Big love,
